Local disaster management group on stand-by

The Townsville Local Disaster Management Group is on stand-by with heavy rains predicted early next week.
Deputy Local Disaster Management Group Chair Councillor Kurt Rehbein said authorities would be monitoring the weather over the long weekend.
“The advice we’ve had from the Bureau of Meteorology is that there is a chance we could get some significant rainfall on Monday or Tuesday next week,” Cr Rehbein said.
“We will be keeping an eye on developments over the next couple of days and provide regular updates to the community.”
Residents are urged to check Council’s Emergency Management Dashboard for all the latest advice on weather warnings, road closures, power outages, and evacuations at disaster.townsville.qld.gov.au.
