Cungulla and Giru residents encouraged to conserve water over the next 48 hours

Residents living in Cungulla and Giru are encouraged to conserve water for the next 48 hours.
There is a blockage in the water treatment plant’s intake, which has likely been caused by debris being washed down into the system.
The treatment plant services both communities, even though Cungulla is in the Townsville City Council boundary, and Giru is in Burdekin Shire Council area.
As a precaution, Townsville City Council encourages residents in these areas to conserve water for the next two days until crews can get to the treatment plant and fix it.
