CBD Utilities Upgrade reaches next stage

Date published: 23 February 2018

The next stage of the CBD Utilities Upgrade begins next week, with works moving down to the end of Flinders Street West.

Work crews will be installing a new water trunk main at the intersection of Flinders Street, Morris Street and Ingham Road from Monday 26 February.

These essential works will require the intersection to be partially closed until Sunday 4 March.

Motorists travelling into the CBD are encouraged to use the following routes while the works are being carried out:

  • Kings Road/Ingham Road/Sturt Street
  • Woolcock Street/Sturt Street
  • Woolcock Street/Boundary Street/ Saunders Street
  • Charters Towers Road/ Boundary Street/ Saunders Street

Council understands that these works may cause an inconvenience to some motorists, and thanks residents for their patience and cooperation during this significant upgrade to our CBD’s water infrastructure.

The CBD Utilities Upgrade began in July 2016 and has delivered over $28 million of infrastructure. More than 265 jobs have been created since works commenced.
