New route for Thuringowa ANZAC march
Date published: 13 April 2018
This year’s ANZAC Day parade in Thuringowa will follow a new route after the cenotaph was relocated to Riverway last year.
The march will now begin at the Weir State School carpark and move along Ross River Road, before turning into Riverway for the official service at the Village Green in the Riverway Parklands.
Community and Cultural Development Committee Chair Councillor Colleen Doyle said this would be the first ANZAC commemoration at the new location between Tony Ireland Stadium and the Riverway Arts Centre.
“The new location offers a lot more room and better access for ANZAC services and marches than the previous one at the old Thuringowa council site,” Cr Doyle said.
“Riverway’s beautiful parklands will be the perfect setting for commemorating such a special day for the community.”
