Last chance to request tickets for GC2018

Spectators yet to submit their ticket request for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) have been urged to beat the last minute rush and do so this weekend before requests close at 11.59pm AEST on Monday, 22 May.
Townsville is one of only three cities outside of the Gold Coast to host events and will see men’s and women’s basketball heats played at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre. The other cities are Cairns and Brisbane.
Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) chairman Peter Beattie said the organisation had received a strong response from the public since ticket requests opened on April 24, but urged those that hadn’t already submitted their request to get in before time runs out.
“We are anticipating a high volume of ticket requests right through the day on Monday so we encourage people to make the most of this weekend and not wait until the last minute to submit their request,” Mr Beattie said.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and placing a ticket request gives spectators the very best chance to secure tickets for the most in-demand sports sessions.”
A total of 278 competition sessions and more than 1000 hours of world-class sporting competition are expected over the 11 days of the event.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill encouraged Townsville residents to register for tickets for local games.
“We’re very excited to host basketball games as part of the Commonwealth Games and it’s a great opportunity to draw international attention to our city,” Cr Hill said.
“I’m certain lots of residents will register for their opportunity to witness a part of history.”
Adult tickets start as low as $20 and half price children’s tickets from $10.
