Townsville families will have the chance to cool down for free this Sunday as the city’s public pools swing open their doors for council’s Free Swim Day.

Free admission to the Tobruk, Kokoda and Long Tan Memorial Pools and the Northern Beaches Leisure Centre will be offered from 9am to 3pm on Sunday, April 2.

Community Health and Environment Committee chair Cr Ann-Maree Greaney encouraged residents to explore the great facilities on offer across the city.

“The open day is a great opportunity to learn about swimming lessons, pool passes and all the different classes on offer,” Cr Greaney said.

“Our public pools are a great place to have fun, get active or enjoy a function – they’re not just places to swim laps.

“They offer barbecue areas, toddler areas with slides, heated pools and so much more.

“We invite residents to bring friends and family and have a great day in the water at no cost.”
