Controlled burns on Castle Hill to commence

Date published: 14 August 2017

Controlled burning to reduce the risk of wildfires on Castle Hill will begin tomorrow.

Council crews will begin burning along the Ironbark Track and from Castle Hill Rd down to Green St from 3pm to 6pm.

This is expected to take two to three days depending on weather and foliage.

Controlled burns will also be conducted along the other tracks, depending on weather, until the end of September.

Council asks residents and hill walkers to take care and follow any directions from staff during the controlled burns.

Controllers will be stationed at tracks to inform people of any delays.

The annual program of controlled burns on Castle Hill is conducted in accordance with the Castle Hill Management Plan and carried out in conjunction with the Queensland Fire Service.
