Singers sought for Carols by Candlelight choir

Christmas is just around the corner and council is seeking the city’s most beautiful voices for its Carols by Candlelight choir.

The choir will perform at the annual Carols by Candlelight event under the big top on Sunday, December 4.

About 80-100 voices are needed for the choir, which will accompany the 1RAR Band and local soloists for the spectacular festive event that attracts about 12,000 people each year.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chair Cr Colleen Doyle said the choir was always looking for new members.

“We have some very talented singers that participate every year but we’d also love to see some new faces,” Cr Doyle said.

“It’s an amazing choir led by the very talented Rachel Cairns and it’s such a wonderful experience being part of the Carols by Candlelight performance.

“Who doesn’t love to sing Christmas Carols and the choir members really do have the very best seat in the house.”

New singers are welcome to attend the first rehearsal which will be held TOMORROW Tuesday, November 1 at 7:30pm at the Brian and Daphne Memorial Hall (formerly known as the Choral Society Hall) on 485 Sturt St.

Rehearsals will then continue every Tuesday evening until the main event in December.
