Amateur actors encouraged to enter annual festival

Calling all schools, theatre companies and groups across the North!
Registrations are now open for the 24th North Queensland Festival of One Act Plays.
The Annual festival which is a partnership between Townsville City Council and Friends of the Theatre gives amateur actors and directors an opportunity to produce quality theatre for the enjoyment of live audiences.
Registrations are open to groups from across the region from Cairns and the Tablelands, right down to Rockhampton and west to Mt Isa.
Council’s manager of Performing Arts, Events and Protocol Jeff Jimmieson encouraged people to register their acts for the Festival to be held on the first weekend on May.
“We’re calling for anyone who has a flair for acting, a school drama class or a theatre group, to register now to take part in this year’s festival,” Mr Jimmieson said.
“Over the festival’s 24 years there have been hundreds of plays presented from right across the region providing us with a great weekend of theatrical entertainment.
“From the very start the organisers have created an artistically unrestrictive atmosphere that all past and present participants, organisers and audiences are proud of.
“The festival is an invaluable opportunity to receive feedback from industry professionals through the adjudication process”.
Applications for the North Queensland Festival of One Acts Plays close on Monday 21 March, 2016.
School groups, individuals and community theatre groups are encouraged to enter a one-act or 10 minute play. The Application Pack and information are available from The Townsville Civic Theatre front reception or by phone on 4727 9013 or visit council's website.
