Infrastructure Services

The Infrastructure Development Unit is a service unit of the Infrastructure Services Department which provides consolidated and coordinated engineering advice to facilitate council's management of land development activity.

What we do

Development assessment

Providing consolidated advice, reports and assessment on engineering infrastructure associated with private developments. This includes pre-lodgement advice, assessment of applications, negotiation and coordination of funding, and the implementation of constrained works using developer contributions.

Development construction

Ensuring that engineering assets constructed by developers, that will eventually be transferred to council (typically roads, stormwater drainage, sewers and potable water supply), meet council's policies and specifications.

Forward planning

Coordinating development and implementation of council's engineering standards for developments, and ensuring current and future developments are adequately serviced with infrastructure.

This also encompasses infrastructure charging for engineering infrastructure, recognition of changing development patterns and emerging technology, as well as adoption of sustainability principles.
