Social Planning
The role of the Social Planning Unit is to assist Council to meet its responsibilities for the social well-being of the community by providing advice, assistance and project management in the areas of social research, social planning, and social policy.
This is achieved in a number of ways including:
- Coordinating and carrying out social research projects and community consultations.
- Compiling and providing demographic and statistical information and analysis to Council, organisations and the community.
- Contributing to strategic planning within Council by combining social planning with physical land use planning.
- Providing social policy advice including analysis of State and Commonwealth policies and programs.
- Liaising with community organisations on social issues.
