Registration and identification of pets in urban areas is important for the well being of the animals themselves, owner's piece of mind, and to allow Council to plan for future community needs.
In Townsville, all dogs and cats must be registered each year and carry an identification disc.
Dogs and Cats are required to be registered within 14 days of moving to Townsville, that includes puppies and kittens.
Puppies and Kittens under six months of age will be entitled to their first registration free for the period up to the end of that financial year. You will need to show proof of age when you register them.
Registration is renewed by 31 July each year. Discount is offered to owners who register their dog in July. Discounts are also offered to pensioners and owners of desexed dogs.
All new registrations must be submitted in person at a Customer Service Centre.
