Parks Security
Parks Services now manages the contract for Security patrols of public parks and The Strand to regulate Council Local Laws and By-laws such as alcohol consumption. Security patrols are conducted daily to confiscate and/or dispose of alcohol found on persons in the public parks and to ensure persons do not remain in parks after closing time.
Responsibilities of the Security patrols include:
Permits
Applications for Permits to consume alcohol in public parks for special events can be obtained by contacting Community Venues on (07) 4727 9000. Conditions and fees apply. At least six weeks notice is required for approval.
Actions you can take
Witnessing consumption of alcohol or any antisocial behaviour
If you see any consumption of alcohol or any antisocial behaviour (including graffiti and vandalism) in the public parks or on the Strand, contact the police on (07) 4759 9777. This type of behaviour is considered a potentially serious public safety concern and the police have greater enforcement capabilities than the Security patrols.
Vandalism and Graffiti
If you see vandalism and graffiti occurring where offenders cannot be identified or if it is already present, please report it to Customer Service on (07) 4727 9000.
For more information, please phone 4727 9000 or contact Parks Services.
